Tongs vs Chimta - What's the Difference?

In Indian kitchens, the chimta is the traditional long, flat tong used to flip rotis on the tawa and puff phulkas over an open flame. Kitchen tongs are sturdier, often longer tools for cooking - turning kebabs, grilling paneer or lifting food from hot oil. Serving tongs are made for the table: shorter, polished and shaped for a particular dish, like rotis in the bread basket or salad in a bowl. The Pizza & Cutlet Tong has a large flat base that lifts heavy items like pizza, cutlets, paneer, steak, breads and grilled vegetables without breaking them. The Noodle Tong has a comb-shaped clip that holds noodles, pasta and spaghetti securely - and works for grilling and barbecue too.
